Manjushri Bodhisattva is so outspoken, showing absolutely no mercy!

When the Bodhisattva criticizes someone, he's even harsher than ordinary people. Moreover, when the Bodhisattva enters sarcasm mode, he sometimes doesn't even spare his own people, causing immense damage.

When the Dragon King Anavatapta invited Shakyamuni Buddha to preach in his palace, Manjushri Bodhisattva even criticized Venerable Mahakasyapa.


At that time, in the Anavatapta Ocean, precious lotus flowers as large as chariot wheels appeared, exceptionally fragrant, with hundreds of thousands of petals, adorned with precious garlands. One of these precious lotus flowers was particularly resplendent, arousing joy in all who saw it, and was the most dazzling. Ananda saw it and asked the World-Honored One, "What is this a premonition of?" The World-Honored One told him to wait a moment, and he would soon know.

Not long after, from the Buddha-field of Ratnakuta (the World of Ratnavyuha), located sixty Ganges River sands of Buddha-fields away, sixty thousand Bodhisattvas, surrounding Manjushri Bodhisattva, came to hear the "Chapter on the Pure Dharma Gate of the Dragon King Anavatapta." Our protagonist, Manjushri Bodhisattva, was seated on the largest lotus flower. All the assembled retinue were amazed and paid homage to these Bodhisattvas.


Manjushri Bodhisattva rose into the air, and Brahma and Indra held umbrellas for him from above. At this time, Manjushri Bodhisattva and the other Bodhisattvas flew to a height of seven Sala trees, showering down unprecedented and unheard-of flower petals as an offering to the World-Honored One.  Voices of greeting to Shakyamuni Buddha emanated from the flowers. Afterwards, they descended and paid homage to the World-Honored One, seating themselves on their respective lotus flowers. Look at the luxurious "entrance configuration" of our protagonist, Manjushri Bodhisattva!

During this time, Venerable Mahakasyapa asked the World-Honored One, "Where is the pure land of Ratnakuta Buddha located?" Manjushri Bodhisattva interjected, "Even if you fly to that world with perfect supernatural powers, you will not reach it even if you exhaust your lifespan and enter Nirvana."


Subsequently, Venerable Mahakasyapa and Manjushri Bodhisattva discussed the issue of liberation of mind. Venerable Mahakasyapa said, "Manjushri, please display your eloquence," to which Manjushri Bodhisattva retorted, "You do not have the ability to debate with me." The Bodhisattva Prajñāpāramitā couldn't bear it any longer and interjected, "Why do you think and speak of Venerable Kāśyapa in such an inferior light?"  Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī haughtily retorted, "Because he is a disciple, unlike me who is a Bodhisattva, therefore he is not without fear."


Kāśyapa, feeling indignant, asked again, "Regarding the three liberations, why do you, Mañjuśrī, describe them as merely similar concepts?"


Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī replied, "This is the skillful means of the Tathāgata, to benefit sentient beings with the concept of similarity regarding the immeasurable three gates of liberation." Entering these three gates of liberation is to transform from an ordinary being to a sage, entering the practice of a first-stage Bodhisattva.

The host of this "open lecture," the Dragon King Anavatapta, and Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī said in unison, "Observe the Tathāgata through all phenomena such as form; although the physical eye cannot see the Tathāgata, it is not unequal to the nature of equality and non-action, and one observes the Tathāgata by entering the meaning of quiescence without discrimination."
